The company behind a new bus service that’s been approved for the Sunshine Coast says it hopes to launch by the Victoria Day weekend, but it has yet to set a firm date.
Sunshine Coast Connector says it has taken delivery of their buses, and they’ve been through the necessary inspections.
Powell River-Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons has been advocating for a service to replace the now-defunct Malaspina Coach Lines.
“This is an essential transportation link for our communities, so I’m glad to see it coming back,” Simons told Coast Reporter after getting a chance to check out the buses. “So many constituents have expressed relief that they will have this option again. I wish the company success.”
In an announcement May 8 via Facebook, Sunshine Coast Connector said it will operate on the Powell River to Vancouver route with one round trip Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. A second route, linking the Earls Cove and Langdale ferry terminals, will run two to three times a day, seven days a week. The company’s website, www.sunshinecoastconnector.ca, is under construction.
