Sunshine Coast RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death in the Sechelt McDonald's parking lot around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.
Police say a man in his mid-30s from the Sechelt Indian Band appears to have collapsed due to natural causes and there is no indication of foul play.
"We treat all deaths, when it occurs in public with limited witnesses, as suspicious, but at this time, we have no obvious cause of death and we're going to await the results of an autopsy," said Cpl. Don Newman on Thursday morning.
Several rumors of a shooting or arrest having been made began to pour into Coast Reporter early Thursday morning, though Newman said the rumors are false.
The death remains under investigation.
