Sunshine Coast RCMP say a man in his 40s is being held in custody after an incident on Sept. 3 in Gibsons.
RCMP say they were called after a man approached a group of youths standing in a field near Sunnycrest Mall in Gibsons just before midnight on the 3rd.
“Some words were exchanged and the male allegedly brandished a weapon, before walking away into the bushes,” RCMP said in a release. “The youths were unharmed, and after calling police, they provided a detailed description of the male and the incident.”
RCMP said they were able to identify the suspect, who is known to police, through that description and he was arrested on Sept. 5 in Gibsons. Police did not release any details about the type of weapon involved.
RCMP say the man will be held in custody until trial because of the seriousness the allegations.
