Louis Nichols and Mary Anne Haase of Madeira Park will be splitting $500,000 after winning the “Extra” prize from the Dec. 13 Lotto 6/49 draw.
Nichols and Haase have been playing lottery games together for the last two years.
“We take turns buying the weekly tickets,” explained Haase, who is Nichols’ aunt. “It’s fun to dream when you buy one, but when you actually win, it really hits home,” exclaimed Nichols.
Nichols said he will consider buying a new truck but mostly wants to help his daughter pursue her dreams as an opera singer. Haase said her heart is with her children and grandkids, and therefore she plans to share some of the winnings with them.
The winning ticket was purchased at London Drugs in Gibsons.
