Two motions about libraries made by Area A director Leonard Lee have been withdrawn.
The first would have seen staff seek feedback from Pender Harbour residents with respect to a library service in Egmont/Pender Harbour.
“I was working with staff and we felt there was really no reason to solicit the feedback, that the information package we found was quite clear,” said Lee at a Dec. 12 board meeting before making the motion to rescind it.
The original motion had been made during a Nov. 28 board meeting – the same day that directors had been working through options for library funding ahead of Round 1 budget deliberations.
Later in the board meeting Lee flagged another motion, also made on Nov. 28. That motion would have seen staff confirm whether Area A could establish an independent library service. “We already have a service area and I don’t think it’s necessary to make another one,” said Lee.
Directors unanimously voted to drop both motions.
