Business owners can spend thousands of dollars on glossy brochures, ads, and websites, but none of these promotional platforms will work if they don't deliver a strong, clear, simple message.
What's needed is "Words that Shine", and writing instructor Elizabeth Rains will be teaching just that in a Nov. 18 workshop on how to remove fluff from your advertising and replace it with lively words that capture customers.
Words That Shine: How to Attract Clients and Customers by Writing Right will show entrepreneurs how to promote their business through plain language. Participants will learn how simply stated, concrete information will draw attention to the special qualities of their business.
Rains has had a long career as an author, magazine editor, journalist and instructor. She holds a Master's degree in Journalism from Carleton University, as well as certificates in Graphic Design and Web Publishing, and teaches writing and editing at Capilano University and Simon Fraser University.
The workshop will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the Gibsons Chamber of Commerce office in Sunnycrest Mall, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Workshops are free to Chamber members or $10 for non-members. To register, email [email protected] or call 604-886-2325.
