The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign is in need of volunteers to fill kettle shifts, according to campaign coordinator Inge Hardman.

Hardman said they still need 100 two-hour shifts filled. They started with a total of 650 shifts.

“We’re just at $20,000 at the moment, so we’re quite far away from our [$60,000] goal,” Hardman said. “I have 100 more shifts to fill and at the rate the we’re taking in from the kettles – if I get those shifts filled – then it is achievable. If I don’t, then possibly not.”

The Salvation Army’s deadline to raise $60,000 is Dec. 24.

“It’s always difficult at the very beginning to get volunteers, but once the Christmas season and the spirit starts happening, people become more generous and they help out more,” Hardman said. “The community is quite generous – usually. I’m hopeful this year that they will have the same spirit of generosity.
