Jury selection in the second-degree murder trial of Donovan Penner is scheduled to begin Jan. 30.
Penner, 49, was arrested Oct. 1, 2014 at the Selma Park home where his mother, 67-year-old Esme LaChance, was found dead by police and ambulance crews responding to a 911 call. He pleaded not guilty, and was committed to trial following a preliminary hearing in November 2015.
The trial was originally supposed to begin in January of 2017, but was adjourned just before it was supposed to start when Penner fired his lawyer. It is now set for Feb. 13 to March 2 in Vancouver Supreme Court.
