Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Oct. 2 to 9:

On Oct. 8, a Sunshine Coast resident reported a fraud after they sent intimate photos of themselves to someone they met online. The scammer, who is unlikely to be who they purported to be, then demanded payment from the resident or the scammer would send the photos to all of the resident’s contacts. The resident made the first payment, but the scammer then demanded even more money. The resident was advised to discontinue any further communications with the scammer and that it was unlikely that their money would be recovered. Police warn the public to be very wary about sending anyone images or information to anyone they meet online.
