Eight-year-old Grade 3 student Hunter Kay from Kinnikinnick Elementary School was chosen as this year’s Fire Chief for a Day by the Sechelt Volunteer Fire Department. Hunter had to create a fire escape plan and submit it to the fire department to have a chance at winning the Fire Chief for a Day contest, that comes with a fire truck ride to school and a special tour of the fire hall.
Pictured with Hunter are fire prevention inspector Steven Achterberg and fire prevention officer Matt Gilroy, who drove the honorary chief to school on Nov. 1.
