Sunshine Coast Hospice Society held a fundraising event in Mission Point Park on Sunday, May 6. Over 150 people gathered to enjoy a sunny afternoon in support of the work Hospice does to comfort and advocate for those at end of life and their families. According to Hospice Society president Denis Fafard, “We surpassed our goal of raising $40,000. The event is a celebration of generosity – we received hundreds of donations big and small, all of which demonstrate the support our community has for the work we do. Where else can you spend a sunny afternoon among friends supporting a good cause, inspired by clowns, ukulele and Celtic music and a disco warm-up?” Pictured are members of the Sunshine Dragons Abreast presenting a cheque for $1,000 to Hospice vice-president Donna Shugar and Fafard.
