One half of the Gordon Halloran art piece titled Regeneration fell down in a windstorm on March 9 and the District of Sechelt plans to keep that half of the artwork in storage until a permanent location can be found.

The District of Sechelt passed a motion to purchase the art piece, which consists of two burned-out tree stumps from the Old Sechelt Mine Fire, on Feb. 17 for a total of $13,692.

Regeneration is dedicated to the tree faller who lost his life fighting the Old Sechelt Mine Fire, John Phare, and while the art piece is currently on display beside the Seaside Centre in Sechelt, council is considering a different permanent location.

Once that location is solidified, both halves of Regeneration will be re-installed, according to arts, culture and communications coordinator Siobhan Smith.
