The Sunshine Coast’s local governments have released a trail guide for people with mobility challenges.

The User-Friendly Trail Guide provides information on trails that are the flattest and easiest to navigate for those with mobility challenges and includes information on each trail such as photos, amenities and an elevation profile.

The details will help users make decisions for themselves as to which trails are best suited for them depending on their own physical limitations.

The joint project was funded by a $15,000 Age-Friendly Communities Grant, awarded by the province and the Union of BC Municipalities last April.

The guide is now available for download through all three local government websites as well as the Sunshine Coast Tourism website.

Funding from each municipality and Sunshine Coast Tourism will allow for a small number of guides to be printed and made available at the Gibsons and Sechelt visitor information centres.

“We are happy to work with our two municipal partners on this project to provide a guide to help the Sunshine Coast citizens and visitors of all abilities to access the beautiful trails and parks in our region,” said Sechelt Mayor Darnelda Siegers in a press release announcing the completion of the guide.
