Two men accused of running a marijuana grow-op in Halfmoon Bay will soon face trial.
Jack C. Chow and Jack H. Chow were both charged with production of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking after Sunshine Coast RCMP raided a Belair Road property on May 25, 2008. RCMP seized 4,300 marijuana plants during the raid.
The two accused appeared in Sechelt provincial court on Monday, Aug. 31, for their preliminary hearing with the assistance of a Cantonese interpreter.
The content of the hearing is subject to a publication ban, but Crown counsel John Whyte said their trial will go forward.
"Both accused were committed to trial," said Whyte. "The next step in the process will be a fixed date in Vancouver Supreme Court that will occur at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23. At that time, I would expect that a trial date will be set," he said.
