Fire swept through a home in the 2700 block of Lower Road in Roberts Creek Tuesday night, but everyone in the house was able to get out unharmed.
The Roberts Creek Fire Department got the call around 11:21 p.m. on April 30 and when crews arrived they found the structure fully engulfed in flames.
A neighbour told Coast Reporter she noticed the lights flickering in her home, which is across the road. When she opened her door to see what was happening, there was “a wall of flames” visible over the cedar hedge at the front of the other property and sparks flying into the trees.
The home was near a hydrant, so firefighters had access to an uninterrupted water supply and were able to knock the fire down quickly and keep flames from spreading into the trees and vegetation. There was no damage to nearby structures.
There’s no word yet on the cause.
