Festival of lights returns

Sechelt
SDBA
The Festival of Lights includes a parade of decorated trucks in downtown Sechelt.

The Sechelt Festival of Lights will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26.

What started 28 years ago as a small lighting ceremony for the Rockwood Lodge Society has now grown to a full-day event, lighting up all of downtown Sechelt, to welcome in the festive season.

The festival includes children’s Make and Take Crafts in Trail Bay Centre from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. with entertainment by the Chat Elphi Band and Choralations Children’s Choir. At 4:30 p.m. the Coast String Fiddlers will perform on the porch of the Rockwood Centre followed by lighting of the lights and carolling with Reg, Lynne and the Music Makers choir at 5 p.m.

This will be the fourth year of the fabulous Parade of Lights starting at 5:45 p.m. The parade was started by the Coasters Car Club and this year features more than 20 vehicles and trucks decked out with lights and festive decorations that will parade through downtown Sechelt.

Santa will be in downtown Sechelt to see the kids. There will be cocoa, food vendors, and more.

The festival is sponsored by the District of Sechelt and the Sechelt Downtown Business Association (SDBA).
