At a Key Ceremony on Sunday, July 9, ribbons were cut to officially open the doorways of the newest duplex built by Habitat for Humanity at its Sunshine Coast Village site in Wilson Creek.
Two families were welcomed to their new homes: Devin, Danielle and baby Amelia Manning will occupy one half of the new home, and Katherine, Mihailo and Phoenix Ross the other.
Pictured in the photo (from left) are: shíshálh councillor Keith Julius (who opened the welcome ceremony with a blessing), SCRD acting chair Frank Mauro, Katherine cutting the ribbon to her home, Habitat board chair Laurie Vance, MP Pam Goldsmith-Jones, Sechelt Mayor Bruce Milne, Michelle Morton on behalf of MLA Nicholas Simons, Lori Pratt from School District No. 46, and Andy Johnson, who offered an honour song.
Visitors shared hot dogs and cake, and enjoyed music from Grant Olson and friends. The young families are thrilled with their new housing and their new friendly neighbours.
