Dale Eichar, past CEO of the Sunshine Coast Credit Union, is thrilled to be named the latest recipient of the Credit Union Foundation of B.C. Dis-tinguished Service Award.
"It came as a huge surprise. It has been predominantly represented by larger urban credit unions," Eichar said.
Eichar, who retired last year after more than 35 years with credit unions, was singled out for the prestigious award because of his extensive credit union system involvement over the many years. He has served on a plethora of committees, groups and boards within the credit union system.
In presenting the award, Meredith Pue, chair of the award committee, past director and chair of Westminster Saving Credit Union, praised Eichar for his contributions to many provincial credit union initiatives. Included in his accomplishments was the founding of the medium-size credit union group called MedCu. Eichar was part of this group that provides networking and collaborative opportunities on initiatives and projects within the credit union system for credit unions of specific scope and size.
Eichar is also heavily committed to the Sunshine Coast. He is vice-chair of the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation.
Shelley McDade, current CEO of the Sunshine Coast Credit Union, praised Eichar for his contributions to the organization and to the Coast.
"A fundamental value of the co-operative system is to share leadership knowledge and wisdom with the community for the benefit of all residents, and Dale has demonstrated this leadership for over 35 years. He continues to infuse this knowledge through his continued community service on the Coast. Congratulations Dale," McDade said in a new release.
