A test well at Gray Creek tapped into an unconfined aquifer on Dec. 2 as part of an ongoing groundwater investigation.

More testing is expected to occur over the coming weeks and initial findings on the test site and others will be presented at the Sunshine Coast Regional District’s (SCRD) Jan. 20 infrastructure services committee meeting.

The SCRD board had directed an expansion of the groundwater investigation project in 2019, including on private property near Gray Creek after the original test location at the creek wasn’t successful. Previous reports have indicated the aquifer could be high-yield.

Other locations in the investigation include Maryanne West Park, DL 1312 in upper Roberts Creek and the Langdale pump station.
