Cutblock A87124 has been sold for approximately $2.2 million to a company in Pemberton that manufactures log homes.

The sale was announced Feb. 29 after four tenders for the disputed cutblock were considered. BC Timber Sales (BCTS) opened four separate, sealed bid packages and declared Continental Pole Ltd.'s bid of $52.40 per cubic metre to be the highest.

Competing offers were received from Silver Lake Logging Ltd. and Alistair Kenneth Sneddon. The runner-up bid was $42.77, made by Allen Edward Cook.

"The successful bidder on TSL A87124 has 10 business days to submit a deposit. After that, logging can start at the discretion of the bidder," said Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations spokesperson Vivian Thomas."The term of the licence is 13 months, so logging would need to be complete in that time frame, unless an extension is requested."

BCTS sought a minimum bid of $31.70 per cubic metre. The total volume of the cutblock is 42,072 cubic metres.

A deposit of over $24,000 will be required to confirm the bid.

Continental Pole Ltd. was unable to provide comment before press deadline.
