On Oct. 24, a cheque for $40,000 was presented to the Roberts Creek Community Association (RCCA) for the replacement of the main floor in the Roberts Creek Hall and for the application of insulation to the underside of the structure. The funds were granted from the Sunshine Coast Community Forest (SCCF) Legacy Fund.
The hall, which was built by volunteers, opened in 1934. The current floor is heavily worn and has been patched a few times. A new plywood sub-floor with an extensive skim coat will be put in prior to commercial grade vinyl flooring being installed. There is currently no insulation beneath the building and the application of spray foam insulation will greatly improve energy efficiencies. The project is expected to be completed by the spring of 2017.
