After numerous reports of cougar sightings in the Bonniebrook area of Gibsons, the conservation officer service and Sunshine Coast RCMP humanely euthanizean adult cougar over the weekend.
"The decision to euthanize the cougar, was made due to it exhibiting no fear of human presence, and had approached people and pets on numerous occasions," said conservation officer Sgt. Murray Smith. "While the cougar has been removed from our community, the conservation office service wants to remind the public to keep their pets and children under close supervision, as the Sunshine Coast is perfect cougar habitat."
