In Sechelt to attend the Ladies Red Serge Gala fundraiser on Sept. 14 were (from left): Const. Dayne Campbell (team captain), Bob Lee, Elizabeth Miller, Desiree Luebkemann, Jamie MacPherson and Paul Reese, six of the 39 riders who took part in this year’s Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast.

The annual event (one of four Tours province-wide) sees law enforcement and emergency services personnel participate to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and to support Camp Goodtimes (a summer camp for kids with cancer).

The route through the Lower Mainland, Sunshine Coast and Sea to Sky covers 800 km over nine days.

Riders rode up the Coast on Sept. 21, where they visited elementary schools in Davis Bay, Roberts Creek and Madeira Park and were hosted by a number of service clubs including the Gibsons Lions, Rotary Club Sunshine Coast-Sechelt and the Madeira Park Legion.

Ninon Daubigeon, coordinator for Tour de Coast, said, “We get great support from the Sunshine Coast and the schools we go to. We’ve raised over $500,000 as a team and are still counting.”
