The Conservation Officer Service (COS) is hoping to hear from anyone with information about two otter carcasses found in Roberts Creek.
A picture of the otters was posted to a local Facebook group, and the original poster of the photo said the dead otters were found near the top of Roberts Creek Road and that he believed they had been killed by someone and dumped there.
Conservation officer Leyland Klassen said the discovery had not been reported to COS and they only learned of the photo through the Facebook post.
Klassen said COS has arranged to speak with the person who made the post, but they’re also hoping anyone else with information will contact the RAPP (Report All Poachers and Polluters) line at 1-877-952-7277.
The COS also encourages people to use the RAPP line any time they see a situation that could be a violation of fisheries, wildlife, or environmental protection laws.
