Concert planned to raise funds for treatment

Rose Schwarz

Rose Schwarz was disheartened to learn she didn’t win a contest that would have provided her with a new Lyme disease treatment dubbed BX Protocol, but an anonymous benefactor has offered to pay for half of her treatment, leaving the 27-year-old with about $11,000 to raise.

Rose’s mother Tani has launched a new Gofundme.com campaign in an effort to raise funds for the treatment. She’s also planning a benefit concert for Rose on Sunday, March 13 at the Sechelt Legion.

The concert will feature Harry Manx at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30, available at Gaia’s Fair Trade in Gibsons, MELOmania in Roberts Creek and Strait Music in Sechelt, as well as at the Sechelt Legion.

Manx is a musician/singer/songwriter who has been described as “fusing eastern musical traditions with the blues, switching effortlessly between conventional guitars, harmonica, and banjo and the decidedly different Mohan veena, a 20-stringed instrument invented by Manx’s Indian mentor Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.”

Tani is hopeful the community will come out to the benefit concert or give online through Gofundme.com to help Rose obtain the treatment.

“Rose’s health is rapidly declining and although she has been in and out of the hospital more frequently lately, nothing is helping. What she needs is treatment for her Lyme disease, which she isn’t getting here. This is a last-ditch effort and we feel the BX Protocol may well be the one thing that can save her life,” Tani said.

“We have until June to come up with the money, but under the circumstances sooner is better than later.”

If you would like to donate, go to Gofundme.com and search “BX Protocol Lyme Treatment for Rose.” Donations can also be made in person at the Sunshine Coast Credit Union to The Rose Fund.
