Coast Reporter has been nominated for nine newspaper awards for provincial and national competitions.
Six award nominations has come from the British Columbia and Yukon Community Newspaper Association (BCYCNA) and three from the Canadian Community Newspaper Association (CCNA).
For the third straight year, Coast Reporter is up for general excellence as top newspaper in its circulation class. And for the sixth year in a row, Shelley Alleyne is up for the top classifieds section award.
Graphic designer Ashley Doyle is nominated for an ad design award. Associate publisher Cathie Roy is up for a special publications award for the summer edition of Sunshine Coast Life magazine.
And former staff writer Brent Richter, now working at Royal City Record, is nominated for two awards: feature photo, colour, for his Ice Gate image and an environmental achievement award for Recycle, Redux, Report, a four-week series on waste management on the Coast that ran last May.
Coast Reporter has been nominated for best all round, best front page and best editorial page from CCNA.
The award winners will be announced at the combined CCNA/BCYCA convention April 29 to 30 at the River Rock Hotel and Casino in Richmond.
