Coast Guard crews were in Secret Cove July 30 to remove a 30-foot (nine-metre) sailboat that had grounded in shallow water. The Coast Guard said the incident was reported July 28, and there were concerns that because the boat was in poor condition there could be a fuel leak. A crew assessed the vessel and decided it presented a hazard to navigation, as well as a potential spill hazard. The boat was towed out of the harbour to a salvage yard on July 30. The Coast Guard also said its crew talked with area residents about preventing, reporting and responding to marine spills.
