The Canadian Coast Guard said this week it’s continuing to monitor the Ocean Pioneer, a boat that sank in Whisky Slough in Pender Harbour.
Coast Guard communications advisor Michelle Imbeau said the agency has responded to two calls about the Ocean Pioneer in the past two weeks.
On Aug. 8, Coast Guard crews were called out for reports of a vessel that was leaking and taking on water.
“Coast Guard was on-scene to pump water out of the vessel, contained the spill, and removed oil and fuel from the vessel,” Imbeau said.
She said the second report came in on Aug. 18, when people spotted a sheen in the water around the boat. The Coast Guard determined it was non-recoverable.
