Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Sept. 21 to 28:
On Sept. 22, a pet owner in the 5600 block of Osprey Street, Sechelt, reported that someone had shot her cat in the face, after a vet visit revealed that a pellet or BB had been lodged in its face. The cat is recovering well and the owner has since heard this has happened to another cat living in the same area. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2020-6773.
Theft
• Overnight on Sept. 20, a rowboat was stolen from a beach above the tide line near the 1900 block of Ocean Beach Esplanade, Gibsons. The stolen boat is described as a 1986 vintage 10-foot-long aluminium Harbour Craft with orange sides and grey body. There is a dent on the bottom of the bow and there were two wooden oars left inside the boat. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2020-6787.
• Sometime between Sept. 7 and 9, a suspect stole approximately 70 bundles of roofing shingles from the Gambier Island government dock. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2020-6833.
• Sometime between September 17 and 24, a suspect stole two batteries from a boat that had been stored in the 1800 block of Field Road, Sechelt. The suspect cut cables and removed bolts to remove the two 12-volt marine batteries. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2020-6837.
Lost cash
• On Sept. 21, likely somewhere between West Sechelt and lower Gibsons, a Coast resident lost a brown BMO bank envelope containing a large amount of cash. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2020-6834.
Impaired Driving
• On Sept. 28, police responded to a possible impaired driver leaving the Earls Cove BC Ferries Terminal. Witnesses were able to provide a vehicle description including licence plate, and a police located the suspect vehicle and driver in Egmont a short time later. The driver, who was exhibiting signs of possible intoxication from alcohol, was given and failed a roadside alcohol screening test. The driver was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Found Property
• On Sept. 28, a recreational watercraft was found on the beach near the 6400 block of Gale Avenue North, Sechelt. Owner may claim with detailed description within 90 days. Please reference police file 2020-6894.
