A class of Grade 4 students walked from Kinnickinnik Elementary School by wooded trail to the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden April 8. They spent time looking at birds’ nests, building a giant nest of cedar boughs, and learning sháshíshálh names for many of the plants in the Botanical Garden’s Rainforest Garden from two local experts, Andy Johnson and Rita Poulsen from shíshálh nation. Teachers can enquire about a Botanical Garden visit at www.coastbotanicalgarden.org or call 604-740-3969.
