The beavers were out at Smuggler Cove on the afternoon of May 28. Photographer Carl Olsen reported heavy beaver activity at the popular hiking spot, with beavers climbing onto the swamp islets to feed on the lush spring growth. These ones, he noted, were quite close to the boardwalk. “Many people walk by deep in conversation, so fail to notice these big rodents.”
