District of Sechelt director of engineering and operations Nikii Hoglund has tendered her resignation, after about nine months on the job.
Her last day of work will be Feb. 10.
“After considerable soul-searching and careful reflection, I have indeed made the difficult decision to tender my resignation to the district, and accept an offer of employment with the City of Colwood as their director of engineering,” Hoglund told Coast Reporter this week.
Hoglund started at the district in April 2016 as part of Sechelt’s new four-person senior management team.
With Hoglund’s departure, the only remaining hire from the senior management team will be director of financial services Doug Stewart, who is also the acting CAO until a new CAO can be found.
According to acting Sechelt mayor Alice Lutes, Hoglund’s role will be taken on by “current supervisory staff in the department,” who will report to Stewart “while a search for a replacement takes place.”
“We would like to acknowledge and thank Ms. Hoglund for her work with the district and wish her every success in her future career,” Lutes said.
Hoglund said the decision to leave the District of Sechelt was a tough one to make. “The hardest part of this decision by far was leaving an incredible team of dedicated people who work hard all day, every day, to provide services to the community and to each other,” Hoglund said. “It has been an honour to work alongside them.”
