The Elves Club Sunshine Coast BC hosted the annual Telethon on Dec. 2, broadcast on Coast TV from Gibsons Heritage Playhouse. The fundraiser provides Christmas cheer in the form of gift cards to families in need on the Coast. To start the day, first responders from across the Coast were out in force (in the pouring rain) on street corners and in mall parking lots holding out their boots to collect funds. At the televised event, MC Duane Burnett, many talented local performers and dozens of volunteers (including David Halstead and Matt Morris, pictured) helped the Elves Club raise close to $28,000. Donations are still being accepted at www.elvesclub.ca, and you can apply to receive one of the gift-card packages until Dec. 10. The depot is open in Sunnycrest Mall; pick-up day for gifts is Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 604-989-9575 for details.
