All-candidates meetings continue on the Coast

Candidates in the May 9 provincial election will continue to square off at all-candidates meetings scheduled for the lower Sunshine Coast.

Following meetings this week in Gibsons and Sechelt, hosted by the Chambers of Commerce in each area, another is slated for this Friday, April 21, at 7 p.m. at Roberts Creek Hall. Hosted by the Sunshine Coast Conservation Asso-ciation and Alliance 4 Democracy, the meeting will focus on getting the candidates’ perspective on environmental issues.

On Wednesday, April 26, candidates head to the Pender Harbour Community Hall for an all-candidates meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., hosted by the Pender Harbour Advisory Council. The meeting will focus on issues of importance to the Pender Harbour community.

Then, on Thursday, April 27, the Sunshine Coast Alternative School is hosting an all-candidates forum for their students at the Sechelt Seniors’ Activity Centre, starting at 10:30 a.m. It will be a chance for young voters to ask questions of importance to them before casting a ballot.

Finally, on Monday, May 1, School District No. 46 (SD46) will hold an all-candidates meeting in cooperation with the Sunshine Coast Teachers’ Association and CUPE 801. The meeting will focus on issues related to education and it will be held at Elphinstone Secondary from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The ad hoc committee organizing the event will accept questions from the public related to education ahead of time at [email protected], and at the door prior to the event.
