Stage 3 water restrictions go into effect June 27 for most Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) water users south of Pender Harbour and for households in Gibsons’ Zone 3.
Households relying on groundwater sources in Langdale, Soames Point and Granthams Landing remain at Stage 2 while those between Pender Harbour and Earls Cove and Egmont remain at Stage 1.
“Our water supply is at risk due to prolonged dry weather,” said a June 25 SCRD release.
Lawn watering is not permitted at Stage 3. Using sprinklers to water trees, shrubs and flowers is also not allowed. Watering with hand held hoses with spray trigger nozzles, containers or micro drip irrigation is permitted daily between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.
Food producing plants and trees cannot be watered with sprinklers or soaker hoses but can be watered at any time using hand held hoses with spray trigger nozzles, containers, or micro drip irrigation.
Commercial food producing farms paying a metered rate are exempt from Stage 3 regulations.
Boats and vehicles can only be washed to wash off seawater. Sidewalks, driveways, windows or exterior building surfaces cannot be washed except for health and safety reasons.
Swimming pools, spas, garden ponds and fountains are not permitted to be filled.
