Shawna Van Poppelen of Salish Soils shows students at Gibsons Elementary a pail of composted material – the end product of organic waste collection in the town. Salish Soils delivered a load of compost for the community garden at the Gibsons school on April 23 as a thank you from the Town of Gibsons and the company for the school’s support of the Town’s organics waste diversion program. Mayor Bill Beamish and councillors David Croal and Annemarie De Andrade were also there for the delivery, which was an opportunity for the students to learn more about what happens to organic waste after it is collected.
