David Gogo warmed up the winter in 2004 and he's set to do it again.

On Saturday, Feb. 10, David Gogo reappears at Roberts Creek Hall for another sizzling session of delta blues in a fundraiser for Dakota Ridge Winter Recreation Society.

In 2004 Gogo was a rising star, nominated for all kinds of awards, and has proven to be a winner since then. After his gig at Roberts Creek Hall, he went on to play with Little Feat, Johnny Winter, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Downchild Blues Band, Colin Linden and the Tragically Hip. National radio and TV exposure has increased his audience over the past few years. He's been a busy, busy boy touring the continent, with many appearances in New York and other U.S. locations.

Gogo - his real name, by the way - has been playing guitar since he was five years old. He's a natural. This man knows how to play. Some say blues was an unusual choice for someone his age, but he "was drawn to the emotional power and raw depth of performers such as Howling Wolf and Son Horse."

His fifth CD, Skeleton Key, highlighted "his ability to blend blues, soul and rock in an electric performance" and brought "an innovative texture to his music." A later release, Vibe, is all original.

Gogo is brought to you by the Live Music Society and sponsored by Sechelt Fireplace and Gas. The warmth begins at 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at Roberts Creek Hall. Doors open at 8:30. Tickets are $20, available at Roberts Creek Health Food Store, WindSong Gallery and Coast Books.
