Tutti is the title of two special performances of the Sunshine Coast Community Orchestra with the Suncoast Concert Band (directed by François Koh) and guests A Cappella Strait and Choralations Choir. The performances are this Saturday, April 16, at St. John's United Church in Davis Bay at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at the Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at Coast Copy in Sechelt, Hallmark in Gibsons and Bluewaters Books, Madeira Park.
Vintage film
Vintage film night takes place tonight (April 15) at the Arts Building in Gibsons. Watch Gulliver's Travels, the 1939 animated version, with an extra of Charlie Chaplin. Doors open at 7 p.m. All ages are welcome for $2.
Kerplunk?
The Kerplunks from Gabriola Island will hit the Sunshine Coast with a big kerplunk on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Arts Building in Gibsons to give a fabulous kids' event. It's geared towards ages three to 10 and will include snacks, crafts and a concert. The band's third album was nominated for a 2011 Juno Award.
The show starts at 3 p.m. with activities running from 2 to 5. Tickets are $5 each (free for one and under) available at Gaia's Fair Trade Gifts and Giggle 'n Bloom in Gibsons, MELOmania in Roberts Creek and Pastimes in Sechelt.
Pied Pear
Rick Scott and Joe Mock of the group Pied Pear will be on tour over the next few weeks -a rare chance to see two folk icons whoop it up - and they will be at ahouse concert in Gibsons on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. For more info, contact [email protected]. To celebrate their reunion,they are releasing a Pied Pear 2011 collectors' edition CD, combining two albums previously available only on vinyl.CDs are available at shows and from www.rickscott.ca.
Drama
On Monday, April 18, the SC Film Society presents I've Loved You So Long, a French film with subtitles by writer/director Philippe Claudel. It's the story of an unconventional family reunion, humorous, yet tragic and quiet, with superb acting. It's at Gibsons Heritage Playhouse at 7:30 p.m. Members: $5, single event: $8.
Arrowhead art
Starting April 18 at Trail Bay Mall in Sechelt, the Arrowhead Centre will be showcasing work from their recent art project led by artist Rogest. Nine canvases will be shown, all with the theme of trees, but with vastly varying depictions. Some are collaborative, some are done by individual artists, but all exhibit a conceptual continuity that is striking.
They will be auctioned off over a period of time, from April 18 to 22 and again April 25 to 27. Funds raised from the silent auction will go towards the Arrowhead Centre.

Author Elizabeth Bach-insky will read Friday, April 22, at 7 p.m. at Wheatberries Bistro/Bakery in Gibsons.
If you heard her read last summer at the Festival of the Written Artsin Sechelt, you know what an entertaining reader she is. Admission isfree but donations are welcome. She is the author of three collections of poetry, Curio, Home of Sudden Service and God of MissedConnections. This reading is made possible by grants from the Canada Council forthe Arts and the Writers Union of Canada.
