Last week, Gibsons hand-painted banner project saw a first, as Devon Blean, Sechelt’s banner coordinator, painted with them. In spite of working on many of the children’s banners for Sechelt, Blean had never painted one of her own designs as a banner.
Connie Johnston, the volunteer coordinator for Gibsons banners, was thrilled to meet Blean, as they hit it off while exchanging many helpful painting hints.
Gibsons banners are currently being painted at the Arts Building in Gibsons; the entire process will take approximately five weeks to complete. About 50 people will be involved in the making of the banners, which will colourfully decorate the town for the next two years.
Gibsons has created hand-painted banners for 19 years.
