The Gibsons Heritage Playhouse is the place to be March 18 to 20 for the fifth annual B.C. Ferries Festival of Wind Music.
Presented by the Sunshine Coast Music Society, the Friday and Saturday concerts at 7:30 p.m. will showcase talented Sunshine Coast musicians in bands and wind ensembles.
Local students selected by their high school band teachers will have an opportunity to perform with community band members each evening.
B.C. Ferries community investment program is providing support to bring the popular Little Mountain Brass Band for a Sunday afternoon concert.
Friday's concert will feature the Creek Big Band directed by Blaine Dunaway and the Anagram Duo: Anna Lumiere and Graham Ord with guest Henri Wood.
Saturday's concert will feature the Suncoast Concert Band conducted by François Koh and the Jazz Group of Seven: John Fredrickson, trumpet; Ken Grunenberg, tenor sax; Carl Montgomery, alto sax; Bill Wishlow, trombone; John Parker Toulson, bass; Ken Dalgleish, piano; and Tim Enns, percussion.
Sunday starts off with a workshop for amateur brass musicians and students with respected band director and educator Jim Littleford at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Little Mountain Brass Band directed by Jim Littleford at 2 p.m.
Tickets for the concerts are $15 for adults and $10 for students, available at Hallmark Cards and Coast Copy.
