St. John's group going strong

For an art club only a year old, the St. John's United Artists have shown an impressive amount of energy and expertise.

For an art club only a year old, the St. John's United Artists have shown an impressive amount of energy and expertise.

Based on the watercolour lessons given by Isobel Gibson for many years at the church, the club was formed after her sessions with a mandate to paint anything and everything an artist might choose. Meeting to paint on Thursday afternoons in the church hall at 1:30 p.m., the club pursues an informal program. New members are welcome.

St. John's Artists have to date made an impressive showing at the Sechelt Mothers' Day show in May 2004 and acted as producers and organizers of the Sechelt Family Festival's art show in July and August.

Now the club is holding its first Fall Exhibition at the Sechelt Library meeting room from now to Nov. 20, open during library hours. The club's work represents Coastal life and landscape in oil, acrylic, watercolour and mixed media.
