The newly-formed Sunshine Coast Independent Writers Group has blossomed into an active group with many plans.
Meet and greet 16 local self-published authors under the big tent at the Festival of the Written Arts at Rockwood in Sechelt from Aug. 12 to 15.
Every topic and genre is represented: fiction, non-fiction, kids' books, local history, art, spiritual and travel. Also included is a self-hypnosis series on tape by hypnotherapist Kathy Bolton and a recipe book for your health by Jan Jensen. Many authors offer a better deal when you buy two books at once. The authors will be happy to talk about their work and sign and sell books.
For more information, visit the Sunshine Coast Independent Writers page on Facebook or see the Festival's website at www.writersfestival.ca.

Poetography
Artist Ron Zheng presents "poetography" from Aug. 11 to Sept. 5 at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre in Sechelt.
Zheng has merged poetry and photography into this art form and is having his first exhibition titled Leaving My Found Eden: A Poetography Exhibit. Poetography combines English-language tanka poetry with black and white photography. It incorporates qualities from several cultures - east and west - to tell, through traditional means, contemporary narrative and visual stories that will appeal to a wide range of people.
To show Zheng's support for the Centre and the Sechelt cultural community, any profits from the sale of his art will be contributed to the Centre.
