Powerful mojo workin' at benefit concert

A sold out show in support of Rose Schwarz at the Roberts Creek Hall on Dec. 19 was a complete success in every way.

A sold out show in support of Rose Schwarz at the Roberts Creek Hall on Dec. 19 was a complete success in every way.

Not only did it raise one-third of the money needed for Rose's Mississippi medical trip, it was also what you would call a magic moment in show business.

From the beginning of the night when the opening band set the tone and got everyone going to the last note played by legendary blues man Harry Manx, the love and positive energy permeated the room.

"If you could have bottled it and sent a drop to every country on earth, you could easily save the world," said Rose's father Gary Gilbert.

For those who still wish to contribute to the cause, there is an account called the Rose Fund (account number 556688) set up at both the Gibsons and Sechelt branches of the Sunshine Coast Credit Union as well as a PayPal account: [email protected].

There will also be collection cans at the Sechelt and Gibsons bottle depots until after the New Year so please save all your extra cans and bottles for Rose over the holidays. The extra money will also go toward the family's medical expenses in Mississippi.

Rose and her family are again deeply touched by the love and support from all of the good people living on the Sunshine Coast and they are wishing everyone the best in 2010.
