Michael Occhipinti, guitarist, and Ilaria Pilar Patassini, vocalist, are taking a mini Sunshine Coast tour. These two exceptional musicians will be at the Gumboot Café in Roberts Creek on Monday, July 17 at 8 p.m. ($20 at the door) and at the Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons on Tuesday, July 18 at 8 p.m. ($20 tickets at WOW Gallery, MELOmania, Strait Music, share-there.com or at the door.)
Occhipinti’s Sicilian Project is like a trip on the Mediterranean that somehow manages to detour to Mali, Jamaica, New Orleans and Toronto. The music sung by Sicilian fishermen, sulphur miners and folk musicians has been dazzling audiences world-wide. Pilar is an astonishing vocalist from Rome who pours her soul into everything she sings and joins the group for her fourth tour of Canada in four years. The touring quartet is completed by bassist Scott Kemp and drummer Tony Ferraro. The show is presented by the SC Jazz and Entertainment Society. See coastjazz.com for more.
