Caravan World Rhythms and the Sunshine Coast Jazz & Entertainment Society are thrilled to present the return of Atlantic Canada's The Idlers on Saturday, March 5, at the Roberts Creek Hall.
Newfoundland-based Idlers (www.idlers.ca) are partnering with Exclaim magazine in a cross Canada winter tour in support of their second release, Keep Out. The tour will highlight music from ECMA nominated Corner (2008) and Keep Out (2009), produced by Darryl Jenifer (Bad Brains and Bedouin Soundclash).
The Idlers will also feature new offerings being road tested for recording later this year.
Formed in 2006, the East Coast band's unique sound is a blend of reggae, ska and Afro-beat mixed with Atlantic influences. The band's live performances combine solid rhythms, heavy horns and tight harmonies that culminate in a dance frenzy in venues from coast to coast. Recently, the Idlers swept all 10 spots of the most played songs of the week on CBC Radio 3 in the world category.
Their live shows have achieved notoriety across the country for their high-energy, musicality and conscious message.
If you missed them last time, get your tickets early so you can be part of this raucous, socially-conscious and intelligent ska party,
Tickets are $20, available online at www.caravanbc.com, or in person at Gaia's Fair Trade, MELOmania and Strait Music.
