On July 3 and 4, painter Marleen Vermeulen welcomed visitors to her Gibsons home-studio, currently dominated by a just-completed, extra-large oil painting. The 35-foot-wide work, which stretches in both directions well beyond the confines of this photo, was created in seven panels, and was inspired by the Hidden Grove forest area in Sechelt. The project was commissioned by a local buyer, who is currently preparing the building in which the painting is to be displayed.
