Two new exhibits start Wednesday at the Doris Crowston Gallery at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre.

The Arts Council presents Leonie Croy with her oil, acrylic, ink and charcoal work in Chalice and Totem - Celebrating Spirit while Ray and Bev Niebergall, Tim Niebergall and Carlie Sanford will show their porcelain and stoneware in Vision and Fantasy. The joint exhibition opens Aug. 13 and runs until Aug. 31. An artists' reception open to the public is from 7 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 13.

"The emotional power and nourishment of the chalice and totem archetypes is what I want to convey in these paintings," Croy said. Integrated with salmon, eagle and Celtic symbols, Croy communicates the sense of wholeness that is felt when the spiritual energy of these ancient archetype images is recognized and brought back into consciousness. The group of Ray and Bev Niebergall, Tim Niebergall and Carlie Sanford states, "It is our desire with this show to provide a place where vision and fantasy meet."

By bringing an experience of their inner communication into the 3D world of clay, they delight and stimulate the viewer's creative imagination and convey the timeless space where we all go and come from.

The Doris Crowston Gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
