About 80 interested people filled Gibsons United Church last Saturday (Nov. 6) for the third annual Environmental Film Festival.
Documentaries focused on eco issues, especially food production. The film King Corn described how the massive commercial corn business in the U.S. permeates the fast food supply. Those who sat down to salmon wraps and pear crumble made of local ingredients, catered by Yvette Nelson, also heard a speaker, Dave Ryan, demonstrate the importance of agricultural land reserve by describing how much land is needed to feed the Coast's population.
Peter Mackay showed his electric truck and many local organizations raised awareness at the Eco Trade Fair. A final film, Fresh, that celebrates farmers, moved the festival to St. Hilda's Church in Sechelt.
