Dichotomy and Flow open Saturday

Art Beat
GPAG
Ruth Rodgers' work Turquoise and Jade.

Dichotomy, an exhibit by Colin Righton, opens at Gibsons Public Art Gallery with a reception on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. and runs to Sunday, Nov. 8. In parallel, in the Eve Smart Gallery, Ruth Rodgers will be exhibiting paintings in a show titled Flow.

Righton’s career continues to take him to a multitude of locations and adventures around the world, interpreting experience, feelings and thoughts into the painted world – inner as well as outer travels. He is concerned with the duality of life’s experiences: the tension between order and chaos, and the dynamic place where these powers engage. Righton explores how apparently opposing forces can be fertile ground for creativity.

Ruth Rodgers paints primarily in soft pastels and acrylics. She is inspired by her immediate surroundings, and hopes that her work will help viewers to see the beauty in their everyday surroundings. Flow reflects her growing appreciation for the stream, lake, and ocean landscapes of the Sunshine Coast, Fraser Valley, and Okanagan. For further information: Michael Aze, 604-886-0531 at GPAG.
