Delhi 2 Dublin returns to the Sunshine Coast, on Friday night, Sept. 3 at 8:30 p.m., following up on two previous sold-out performances at Roberts Creek Hall
The five-member group, founded in 2006, bring their unique high-energy hybrid of Celtic, Punjabi and electronic dance music back to the Creek. Since their last visit to the Coast, the band has toured across Canada, Asia and the U.S. and released a new recording, Planet Electric.
Delhi 2 Dublin is the new sound of music, blending East and West, electronic and acoustic, mainstream and underground, taking listeners on a wild and borderless trip through global sounds and synchronicities. The band fuses the traditional sounds of tabla, dhol, fiddle and sitar with cutting-edge DJ aesthetics to create a highly charged multicultural dance celebration.
Their sound is electro acoustic Celtic-Punjabi fusion with touches of reggae, breakbeat, drum n' bass and hip hop. Their influences include Transglobal Underground, Asian Dub Foundation, Manu Chao and DJ Cheb i Sabbah. Delhi 2 Dublin crosses all boundaries and breaks down cultural stereotypes while delivering positive vibes and high-energy dance music.
Tickets are $20, available online at www.caravanbc.com or at Gaia's Fair Trade Gifts, MELOmania and WindSong Gallery.
